What I'm Working On

Updated August 1, 2025

Where My Head Is At Right Now:

It's in the clouds. I've been in the trenches for so long and for once in a really long while, I'm flying in the sky. Could be the BRẼZ if you know what I mean. ;) But in all seriousness, with the world feeling like an impending apocalypse I'm redirecting my focus from newsfeeds on social media (it is surreal to receive a Tsunami warning in California and seeing Trump trying to take down the Department of Education) and instead focusing on the creative side. THIS is what I love about humans, we take all this pain, frustration, and anger and turn it into something. I just hope it's good.

Nearly every conversation I've had in the last few months tell me that, we're all drowning and trying to find ways to reach the surface for AIR, for SURVIVAL quite literally and figuratively.

The good ones won't climb over others to get up there.

The bad ones will, gladly. And that scares me.

What I’m Up To Daily:

Nowadays, I work nearly everyday. Keeping up with the daily demands of clients over the weekdays and getting ahead as much as I can on the weekends. I've been doing something new and it's lowkey working well for me and my energy.

I work out every weekday doing strength training and some form of cardio and recently it's been running whereas it was the notorious stairmaster. And every Sunday I do Run Club with a crew of very fit runners. Somehow within a month, I've gotten my pacing down from 11 minutes to 10 minutes. And the whole thing has been good for energy, generating ideas, and making space for reflection.

Other than that it's been meal prepping so any leftover time is spent on work: communicating with clients, strategizing our next moves, managing copywriters and designers, getting reporting in order, and diagnosing any issues that come up ad hoc.

Lots of wins there recently thanks to the KapturBox team that truly leveled up my retention marketing skills. It's a win in my book if they're reaching out to me instead of the founders. It's a win in my book as long as I'm staying proactive and ahead of any problems before they escalate. It's SO satisfying.

I was reminded recently why I love this work and it's the creative, analytical, and emotional flow of retention marketing. I like solving problems (albeit when there's time HA) and creating new ideas but I like them nonetheless - more than any monotonous or tedious work. I think there's a perk in the newness of my experience and its not so anchored in the biases in experience that I believe something innovative can come into fruition.

What I’m Into Right Now:

This has been the season of pushing limits and exploring creative side quests. I've recently joined a run club in Little Tokyo and it has been a fun Sunday ritual that compliments my weekday strength training. Thank God for movement, because I don't think my brain cells can function without it.

Creative side quests include building this site from scratch which has been super fun to customize and refresh my html & css knowledge. Also, for the first time in a while, I've been taking immediate action from creative inspiration. Credit to Phoenix Ha in hosting a DTC book club this year and the more recent book was The Creative Act by Rick Rubin!
